Abstract

The experiment was similar to that in the preceding abst. except that different fractions of germinated and ungerminated chickpea and green gram were given to the rats. The lipid and carbohydrate fractions decreased cholesterol in serum more than the whole chickpea or green gram. Liver of rats given the diet high in cholesterol without legumes showed fatty infiltration and deposition of cholesterol whereas that of rats given legumes was normal.
