Abstract

This Dissertation / Report is the outcome of investigation carried out by the creator(s) / author(s) at the department/division of Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysore mentioned below in this page.

Item Type: Student Project Report
Additional Information: The production of microbial chitinases has attracted attention as one of the potential for reclamation of crustacean shell waste .In addition chitinolytic enzymes have been used for the bio-control of plant pathogenic fungi and insects, preparation of fungal protoplast, in mosquito control, as a target for bio-pesticides and preparation of bio-active β N-acetyl chitooligosaccharides and GlcNAC. In the present study we made an attempt to produce chitinases (chitinase and β-N-acetyl-D-hexoseaminidase by solid state (substrate) fermentation using commercial wheat bran as substrate from 3 different phytopathogenic fungi. It was observed that a maximum of 26U/gIDS Chitinase production by C. lidemuthianum at 192 h of incubation in arbitrarily selected conditions. Maximum β-N-acetyl-D-hexoseaminidase yield of 60 U/gIDS was recorded with P. monoverticillium at 120 h of incubation. .
