Abstract

This Dissertation / Report is the outcome of investigation carried out by the creator(s) / author(s) at the department/division of Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysore mentioned below in this page.

Item Type: Student Project Report
Additional Information: The purification and concentration of lactoperoxidase could be successfully achieved using reverse micelles-assisted extraction. The purification factor of proteins achieved using reverse micelles assisted extraction is much better when compared with reverse micelles assisted extraction with Tween 85 and Triton X-100. The activity recovery is much higher in reverse micelles assisted extraction with Tween 85 and Triton X-100 when compared with reverse micelles-assisted extraction. On the whole the purification factor and activity recovery is increased when minimal concentration of Tween 85 and Triton X-100 (i.e., ~0.05M - 0.1M) is added along with reverse micelles-assisted extraction. This process is much efficient as it has no trouble of performing back extraction process, as it has only the forward extraction. On the laboratory scale, RME for downstream processing of proteins is well established. There are no reports available on the larger scale extraction of proteins using this technique so far. It was conlcuded that, RME have the potential to develop into a new bioseparation tool for biotechnology.
