Additional Information: | The systemic fungicides viz., benomyl, carbendazim and benzthiazuron are used in agriculture and hence residues of these fungicides occurs in agricultural produce and leather products. Benomyl breaks down to give carbendazim which in turn metabolises to give 2-aminobenzimidazole. Benthiazuron is a urea herbicide which metabolises leaving 2-aminobenzothiazole as residue. The main aim is to analyze the parent compounds benomyl and benzthiazuron by analyzing their hydrolysis products by simple and rapid methods like UV spectrophotometry and colorimetry. |
