Additional Information: Experiments were carried out for the production of chitosanase by solid state fermentation using different fungal and actinomycetes cultures using commercial wheat bran and shrimp processing by-products as substrates. The crude chitosanase produced by Fusarium oxysporum, Aspergillus flavus and Penicillium monoverticillium were characterized for their optimum temperature and pH. The chitosanase produced by F. oxysporum, A. flavus and P. monoverticillium were concentrated by using PEG and used for chitosan hydrolysis. The results of the experiments showed that the crude chitosanases was very effective in the hydrolysis of colloidal chitosan and production of chitosan oligosaccharides.
