Additional Information: | The scope of biotranformation is wide and the use in biotransformation of steviol glycosides is beyond doubt. By understanding the functional genomics and the enzymes involved in the trasglycosilation process the technique was effectively used for production of novel natural non-nutritive sweeteners. It has been revealed that Curdlan was a better substrate as compared to glucose in biotransformation of steviol glycosides by using Aspergillus parasiticus. In addition to being a sweetener Stevia has numerous Nutraceutical attributes with a larger health benefits. Study has revealed that there is a significant antioxidant activity present in Stevia rebaudiana, which is the main mechanism involved in the prevention of various diseases. It can be used for the better application of Stevia in pharmaceutical and nutraceutical preparations. Callus induction in licorice (Glycyrriza glabra) by using various growth regulators had shown that the appropriate dose and standardization is a necessity for having a profuse callus with beneficial attributes for carrying further experiments. This shows that standardization in tissue culture is a prerequisite for meeting the ever requirements of such food value phytochemicals. |
