Abstract

Norbormide at a toxic dose level (1.2 m.gfiOO g body wt), irrespective of the mOde of administration, causes a signiftcant rise in blood glucose levels with a concomitant fall in hepatic glycogen contents of albino rats. Two strains of mice ar.., however, devoid of this effect. Glycogen contents of skeletal muscle and glutathione contents of liver are also decreased. Insulin is able to reverse the hyperglycemic effect, but it cannot protect the rats against other toxic manifestations and subsequent death.
