Abstract

Growth studies were conducted on rats using five varieties of rice with high lysine content in the protein. In general the growth of animals was more related to the total lysine content in the rice than to the lysine content in the rice protein. Protein quality index did not bear relation to the lysine content of the protein, in the varieties tested.
