Abstract

This Dissertation / Report is the outcome of investigation carried out by the creator(s) / author(s) at the department/division of Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysore mentioned below in this page.

Item Type: Student Project Report
Additional Information: Xenobiotic induced oxidative stress was studied in liver & brain of rats. Chlorpyrifos cause higher oxidative stress in the brain of rats than ethanol. In the liver, ethanol induced more oxidative stress than chlorpyrifos. The effect of chlorpyrifos & ethanol on LPO were dose dependent. Xenobiotic induced the generation of free radicals, depletion of GSH levels which lead to oxidative stress , Chlorpyrifos inhibit AchE in brain of rats. The root extract of Dh ameliorated the effect of ethanol & chlorpyrifos in the liver & brain of rats by reducing the induction of oxidative stress. The mechanism of protective action of the extract is attributed to the antioxidant activity and boosting of the antioxidant defenses of the tissues.
