Additional Information: The cytotoxicity of Endosulfan, an organochlorine was studied invitro in EAT cells. The methanolic and aqueous root extracts of Decalipes hamiltonii possess antioxidant activity invitro. Endosulfan induced the generation of ROS and LPO, leakage of LDH, and depleated the GSH level in a dose dependent manner, which led to oxidative stress and ultimately caused cell death. Both methanolic and aqueous root extracts of Decalipes hamiltonii protect cytotoxicity of Endosulfan. Decalipes hamiltonii extract was prepared in the form of aqueous and methanolic extract and also this has been shown that it contains antioxidant properties and the experiments reveled the amelioration of cytotoxicity of Endosulfan by increasing the viability and GSH levels and suppressing ROS generation, LDH leakage and LPO. These experiments also proved that D.hamiltonii showed cytoprotective effects against Endosulfan induced cytotoxicity even at lower concentrations, there by suggesting its ameliorative potential.
