Abstract

The interaction of 8 spp. of Aspergillus on the population pattern of the rice moth (Corcyra cephalonica Staint.) has been studied. The max. population (71.25%) of C. cephalonica was observed in the non-autoclaved control sample, followed by 66.25% in the grain sample infested by A. nidulans, and 60.0% in the autoclaved control sample. The population in grains infected with A. versicolor, A. ruber or A. ochraceus was 58.75%, while it was least (38.75%) in samples infested with A. flavus or A. oryzae. Adults emerged earliest (39 days) in samples infested with A. ruber and latest (50 days) in samples infested with A. flavus. The pupal wt. was greatest (48.9 mg/pupa) when the larvaes fed on grain infested with A. ruber, and lowest (33.5 mg/pupa) in the grain infested with A. flavus. Variations in the sex ratio have also been reported.
