Abstract

This review of post-harvest technology in South-East Asia covers the following aspects: processing of food grains in SE Asia (rice, maize, grain legumes); storage of food grains; handling and processing of food grains in India - rice (harvesting, threshing, drying, parboiling, curing and enrichment, milling and utilization of by-products), ragi (Eleusine coracana), jowar (Sorghum vulgare), bajra (Pennisetum typhoideum), grain legumes; storage of food grains in India (including storage structures, grain protection measures); preservation and processing of fruits and vegetables in some S.E. Asian countries (Philippines, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Nepal); preservation and processing of fruit and vegetables in India (including waxing, growth regulator sprays and fungicides, low temp. technology, processing of fruit and vegetables); and storage and processing of tubers (potato, tapioca, blended flours and macaroni, starch and sago).
