Abstract

An attempt was made to find out whether the white core in rice is related to grain length (L) and breadth (B). The 138 var. with B of 1.85-3.05 mm and L of 5.15-6.10, when tested, showed that all grains having B less than 2 mm were translucent and those with B greater than 2.8 mm had white core. The intermediate B grains had both white core and translucency. White core was not related to L/B ratio.
