Abstract
A premium grade malathion emulsifiable concentrate deposited on whole-grain 'paddy' (rough rice) at the rate of 10 p.p.m. in the laboratory in India was shown by bioassay with adults of Musca domestica nebulo F., Tribolium castaneum (Hbst.) and Callosobruchus chinensis (L.) to remain effective for weeks under storage conditions. The effectiveness of the deposit was assessed in terms of mortality rate. Chemical determination indicated that about 4.5 p.p.m. of the initial deposit remained after two weeks on rough rice, 2.7 on husk and 0.5 p.p.m. on dehusked rice grains under tropical conditions.
