Abstract

Amino acid content of Bengal gram, green gram, horse gram and sesame flour was estimated. For 4 weeks Wistar rats 21 days old were fed on diets containing different amounts of pulses and sesame flour and a control group was fed on skimmed milk powder to provide 10% dietary protein. Mixtures containing 60% protein from Bengal gram, green gram or horse gram and 40% protein from sesame flour were the most suitable combinations as judged from the protein:energy ratio and growth rate of rats.
