Abstract
Acute vitamin A deficiency in albino rats reduced the liver mitochondrial and supernatant L-alanine-2-oxoglutarate aminotransferase and L-aspartate-2-oxoglutarate aminotransferase activities, and produced a concomitant elevation in serum. Kidney and heart cell enzyme activities were not affected. Liver alkaline phosphatase and serum acid phosphatase were higher than those of pair-fed controls given a vitamin A supplement.
