Additional Information:	Probiotic foods containing lactic acid bacteria have gained enormous interest because of the beneficial effects it offers to the consumers. The work was carried out to examine the role of one such lactic acid bacteria Pediococcus in milk to combat against food borne pathogen Shigella. The study was carried out using different sources of milks that was inoculated with LAB of different inoculum sizes. The maximum activity was observed in 24 hours of shelf storage of the fermented milk. Partial purification of the bacteriocin from Pediococcus showed good activity against Shigella.
