Additional Information: | Coriander powder was treated with microwave treatment (50% and 100% intensity) for different periods (10 and 20 min) with periodic exposure of 5 minutes. Supercritical CO2 fluid extraction of the volatile oil from treated coriander seeds was carried out at temperature 60°C and pressure at 120 bar, at CO2 flow rate (0.79, 1.10 and 1.56kg/h) in order to evaluate their influence on the yield and chemical composition. Hydro distillation of the seed with the same mean particle sizes was performed to obtain volatile oil and the oil is compared with SCF CO2 oil for composition. The chemical composition of each supercritical fluid extraction sample was analysed by GC. The Kovat indices was calculated based on retention time (RI) and using RI of standard hydrocarbons (C9-C20), the Kovat Indices of the peaks were obtained and the compounds are identified using literature data base from Chemistry Web Book (NIST data base). The composition of the oil as obtained GC was presented. Some of the compounds occurring in the oil were tentatively identified. |
