Abstract

An integrated system for biogas production from rabbit droppings and utilization of the biogas effluent for production of major carp (Rohu, Labeo rohita) and common carp (Cyprinus carpio) was studied. Rabbit droppings produced 0·24 m3 of biogas per kg of total solids (TS). Biogas effluent, when used at 30 kg/100 m2 area in ponds as the sole source of feed for carp, yielded 8·9 kg/100 m3/120 days of fish which lad favourable colour, flavour and taste.
