Additional Information: | This study attempts to provide compendium of nutraceuticals from fruit and vegetables from different and diversified information’s sources, for future research and development requirement, for commerce and Industry. The availability of various endogenous defence chemicals are inadequate to prevent oxidative damage followed by degenerative diseases. Hence, it is necessary for increased intake of dietary nutraceuticals that may help maintain the balance between oxidants and antioxidants, slow age-related changes, and prevent onset of degenerative diseases. High intake of plant-based food indisputably benefits human health, however, it is not yet known whether it is the antioxidant constituents that are responsible, whether the benefit is of a threshold type or on a continuum, or if it is one, many or all plant-based antioxidants that are involved. It cannot be entirely discounted that antioxidants are mere co-incidental dietary co-travellers with other, as yet unknown, beneficial ingredient(s) or effects of plant foods. |
