Abstract
Dyslipidemia is a notable problem that affects millions worldwide; approximately, 25-30
% of urban and 15-20 % rural population are severely suffering from dyslipidemia and
related diseases. Scientists have been trying to articulate the burden of dyslipidemia and
the associated risk factors including NAFLD, CVD, diabetes etc. Liver is the major organ
which will be affected in high fat, high cholesterol and high carbohydrate diets which
resemble the modern diets leads to dyslipidemia which is addressed in our present study
and proposing that the Capparis zeylanica fruit extracts promotes liver health. However,
there is limited scientific evidence on characterization of bioactive components from
processed fruit and their biological activities. Our study involves the biochemical
characterization of processed C. zeylanica fruits; in-vitro and in-vivo antioxidant, enzyme
inhibitory activity, anti-dyslipidemic, hepatoprotective activities and the development of
health beverage formulation and its shelf-life stability.
