Abstract

Cereals and pulses are severely damaged by weevils and bruchids respectively, in storage. The damage consists mostly of loss in weight and in viability due to the feeding of the insects on the germ portion and inside nutritious material. Little information about the magnitude c f these losses is, however, available and our knowledge in this respect is based on estimates.
