Abstract
The efficiency of lucerne leaf protein as a source of Il-carotene in rat diets was studied. Both in a 6-week growth experiment with male weanling rats and in another I8-day experiment on· rehabilitation of male and female rats with early symptoms of vitamin A deficiency, the leaf protein used as a Il-carotene supplement was found to be as good as synthetic Il-carotene at comparable pigment levels.
