Abstract

A colorimetric method for the detection and approxlmate quantitative estimation of fibre in tapioca starch and sago has been described. The method is based on the aniline acetate colour test for pentosans present in the fibre. The presence of fibre to the extent of 1 per cent in the starch could be detected by the method.
