Additional Information: |
The aim of this present investigation is to enrich the CNO with GLA by chemical interesterification. Interesterification using coconut oil with Evening primrose oil was carried out in order to arrive the fatty acid of our interest incorporated in CNO ,triglyceride. To achieve this 1:5 ratio of CNO:EPR fatty acid concentrate was used at different time intervals using 5% catalyst and with all other ambient reaction conditions. Result showed that after 12hr incubation with substrate(fatty acid concentrate) the modified CNO contained gamma linolenic acid to an extent of 4.8% in CNO this fatty acid was not found in native CNO up on continuing incubation time to 24hr linolenic acid content in CNO did not increase significantly, hence 12hr incubation with other optimised conditions were used in futher experiments.
|
