Additional Information: | Marine microbial enzymes are known to have much higher catalytic activity towards a broad range of substrates. In the present study, marine proteolytic bacteria isolated from marine samples were qualitatively screened on casein agar medium and were characterized by morphological and biochemical analysis. One portion of 16S rRNA genes of selected marine bacteria was amplified by PCR and 16S rDNA of marine bacterial strain 188 M was partially sequenced. The sequence data was analyzed and phylogenic tree of marine bacterial strain 188 M was constructed using online molecular biology tools. The results of this study showed that out of several isolates 26 M, 133 M and 188 M were potent protease producers, which showed conspicuous clearance zone around the colonies in casein agar plates. The PCR amplification of 16S rRNA gene was resulted in the amplification of 1.3 kb long DNA fragment from the respective genomic DNAs. The BLAST analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequence showed that the bacterial strain 188 M is a Bacillus sp, which is very close to Bacillus sp. KJW98 (Acc No Fj716700.1). The phylogenic tree showed the evolutionary relationship of the 188 M with other Bacillus sp. |
