Abstract

This Dissertation / Report is the outcome of investigation carried out by the creator(s) / author(s) at the department/division of Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysore mentioned below in this page.

Item Type: Student Project Report
Additional Information: The phytochemical β-asarone isolated from the roots of Acorus calamus is used as an insecticide to kill pests and bacteria. It is suspected to be a carcinogenic compound. So there is a scope to reduce its carcinogenic activity by derivatising it. The compound 1-[(1Z)-3-bromoprop-1-en-1yl]-2,4,5-trimethoxybenzene prepared will be investigated for its insecticidal activity and fungicidal activity. O,O-dimethyl S-[(2Z)-3-(2,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl)prop-2-en-1-yl]phosphorodithioate is an organophosphorus compound which is expected to be a potent pesticide against various insects and pests. The two compounds obtained are novel and are investigated for their insectidal activity against stored product insects and pests.
