Abstract

Many years of study have revealed that fungi are excellent sources of novel bioactive secondary metabolites. Some of these secondary metabolites possess therapeutic qualities that improve the quality of life for millions of people. Such metabolites include well known classes such as the penicillins, cephalosporins, and statins, yet many fungi remain underexplored as sources of biologically active metabolites. The research described in this thesis employs an OSMAC (One Strain Many Compound) approach for the isolation of novel inhibitors. The research involves investigation and isolation of bioactive compounds from the selected fungi i.e. CFR-107 which shows inhibition against various enzyme. The selected fungal strain was subjected to fermentation on fungal broth and crude extract were screened for their ability to produce novel inhibitors against various enzyme. Analysis and separation of selected fungal crude extract was done using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) method and each separated compounds were checked for inhibition against these enzymes. In the present study, we focus on the constituents isolated from selected fungal strain having inhibitory potency along with IC50 values.
