Abstract

The-seed oil of the mandarin orange of Assam has an extremely bitter taste. whi~h can be removed by refining with caustic eoda solution. The physico.chemical characteristics of the oil compare well with thoJSe of the seed oil of other citrus fruits like grape fruit. tangerine, sweet orangE!, etc. The mixed fatty acids in the oil contain 3.49% linolE!nic. 35.97% linoleic. 24.51% oleic and 36-06% saturated acids. The residual cake is rich in protein, phosphorus and calcium.
