Abstract

Chickpea and greengram, ungerminated (UG) and germinated (G) were incorporated in rice and wheat diets so that the cereal protein proportion to legume protein was in the ratio of 2:1. Both (UG and G) gave better growth rates in rats when used in combination with rice and wheat. Supplementary effect was more pronounced when legumes were used with rice than with wheat. In both chickpea and greengram no noticeable differences were found between UG and G in their characteristic of mutual supplementation.
