Abstract
Various maize (corn) cv. were examined as to 28 morphological properties which influence germ and bran contents, and oil in germ and bran + endosperm fractions. Grains of corn from top, middle and bottom parts of cobs were evaluated, and data were pooled, along with some previous results for a further 11 attributes [Srinivas et al., Economic Botany (1991) 45, 503-510], and subjected to multivariate and canonical discriminant analyses. Selected cv. showed considerable variations in attributes studied. A set of attributes was identified which should serve as a guideline in breeding trials.
