Abstract
Soil incorporation of bacteria adapted to insecticide Hexachlorocyclohexane (Tech HCH), alpha-HCH and beta-HCH through laboratory enrichment technique, accelerated the degradation of respective chemicals. The presence of such bacteria in soil arrested to varying extents, inhibition of dehydrogenase activity caused by isomers of HCH. Similar biological amendment of the soil also offered protection to amaranthus, knol-khol and tomato seedlings against HCH toxicity.
