Abstract

Production of ethanol by simultaneous saccharification and fermentation (SSF) of Antigonum leptopus (Linn) leaves pretreated with H2O2 is described. Cellulase from Trichoderma reesei QM-9414 (Celluclast(R)) was used for saccharification and Saccharomyces cerevisiae NRRL-Y-132 cells were used for fermentation. Results were compared with those obtained from separate saccharification and fermentation processes. Optimum conditions for SSF were: substrate concn., 10% (w/v); temp., 40
